A Hilo man has been charged with three offenses in connection with a reported assault Monday night.
At about 8 p.m. Monday, a 43-year-old Hilo man reported that he was assaulted, held at knife point and threatened at the home of an acquaintance at a home on Ohea Street. The alleged victim managed to break free, leave the premises and call the police.
Police arrested 42-year-old Paul Sasaki less than an hour later. He was charged Tuesday with assault, unlawful imprisonment and terroristic threatening.
His bail was set at $12,000 and his initial court appearance was scheduled for today.
